This book should be on every mental health professional's shelf even if you don't work with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Authors Steele, Van der Hart, and Boon have insightful information about how reenactment, transference and non realizations affect the client and also the therapist. The chapters end with helpful questions the therapist should ask themselves about some of these concepts. There are case examples and a lot of "how to" instruction. This book is an invaluable resource.The authors stress supervision and consulting when working with DID. That's my only "gripe." In my neck of the woods there are no DID consultants. There are experts outside of my state willing to consult for a big fee - something that most therapists in private practice unfortunately can't afford on an ongoing weekly or monthly basis.
Most comprehensive book I have seen on Dissociation. Helpful for the treating patients or for people dealing with Dissociation.
This book is great. It was well written, free of too much jargon. There are lots of useful tips and thought provoking questions.

This is a great book for therapists working with clients seeking help for DID diagnosis. It's not too overly technical but complex enough that I have to really pay close attention to everything I'm reading, underline important parts, and usually go back and review it. All in all very helpful in understanding and treating Dissociative Identity Disorder.
This book is amazing. I have read so many on trauma and dissociation but this one is my new favorite and go-to resource. There is so much information and it is not a quick read but it is very much worth it. I have suggested that several colleagues read this book as it not only helps with what treatment you provide but how you, as a therapist, present and provide it.
This is a very informative, well-written book that is easy to read and digest. After plowing through a lot of clinical writing, which is often "dry", this was a pleasure to read.
A great book about treating dissociation. And a great book about the art and craft of psychotherapy! Good for novices and old hands like me.Bravo!!!!
